A program of activities has been planned for the spouses and guests of participants. The Helsinki capital area and the countryside offer a lot of attractions for those interested in art, culture, history, science and technology, or simply just relaxing.

Helsinki City Sightseeing

Description:
During the 3-hour city tour you will get to know the main attraction of the Finnish capital. Helsinki was founded in 1560 but the oldest parts of the city date from the early 19th century when the Russian Czar started the building of the new center for the recently nominated new capital of the Grand Duchy of Finland. Senate Square, Lutheran Cathedral, Market Square, South Harbour, Kaivopuisto - Quarter of the Embassies. Finlandia Hall, Opera House, Olympic Stadium and the renowned Rock Church are representative of the modern city. Guidance in English. Children under 12 years have a reduction of 50% of the price.


Excursion to Porvoo

Description:
Porvoo was founded in the 15th century. The town is located 45 km east of Helsinki. Romantic old wooden quarters offer a special atmosphere. The town has a medieval church, shops offering antiquities, handicrafts and sweets. A private bus will take you to Porvoo in 30 minutes. You will have a guided walk in the narrow streets, time for shopping and dropping in interesting shops. The City Museum tells the history of the town and in the Edelfelt - Wallgren Museum you can see some works of the famous artists of Porvoo. A light lunch is included in the program. Children under 12 years have a reduction of 50% of the price.

See Helsinki from the Sea

Description:
Helsinki is famous for its archipelago. Observing the horizon of the Capital from the sea, you notice how close the nature is here. The excursion begins from the Conference Site. A private coach takes you to the Market Square in Helsinki, where you have time to go around and notice the abundance of vegetables and fish in late summer. The boat for a 1,5 hrs cruise leaves from Market square. A light lunch will be served during the cruise. Return to Otaniemi / University of Technology at 15.00.


Excursion to Hvitträsk and Tarvaspää

Description:
Hvitträsk was the studio and home of three famous architects of the turn of the 19th century. It is a beautiful example of the national - romantic style ( art nouveau or jugend ) in Finland. The villa is located at 30 minutes from the conference site. Guided visit to the museum. Tarvaspää, earlier home and studio of the painter Akseli Gallen - Kallela belongs to the same style. All these artists were founders of the golden era of Finnish art. Guided visit to the museum. Coffee and cake service is included in Tarvaspää. Children under 12 years have a reduction of 50% of the price.

Description:
Rovaniemi, is capital of Lapland. It is located on the Arctic Polar Circle. The summer in the North is normally bright and warm. Rovaniemi is an active center of tourism and a lively city of culture.

26 August
The passangers coming from abroad in the evening of 25 August will have accommodation in Helsinki (the hotel will be informed later / supplementary price). Transfer to the airport for the early flight to Rovaniemi by Finnair at 08:55. A local guide will greet you welcome. During the first day you will visit Arktikum, reindeer herders farm, lunch will be served on the route. You will experience a cruise in a traditional river boat. The evening will be spent in the typical forest hut, where you also can try the original Finnish sauna. Dinner in the forest hut. Accommodation in Hotel Pohjanhovi in the city center.

27 August
The morning is free for your own activities. Lunch will be served in Santa Claus Village. There will be time for visit the shops and office of Santa Claus, where you can say "hello" to Santa in person. Return to Helsinki by afternoon flight. Transfer to congress hotels in Helsinki.

Minimum number of participants 10 persons. The tour includes return flight to Rovaniemi, programme and meals stated above, accommodation in a shared double room. Single room possible for supplementary rate. The flight schedule will be informed in the confirmation letter to those who have booked the tour.

Description:
Cruising ships of Viking Line are like floating first class hotels. You have comfortable A-category outside cabin. Enjoying the dinner on board you can admire the beautiful coastal views. The whole day in Stockholm can be used for a city sight seeing and walk in lively streets of the Swedish capital. The cruise is in a shared double cabin. Beverage on the meal is not included.
